08-24-09 Half-Hour 2: "Universal Health Care."

Half Hour 2 - Believing VS. Accepting / What's the Biblical view of Universal Health Care?

  1. Did you read the rest of the passage in 2 Thess? I does seem to indicate that they have a right to the food without working. And Paul was also talking about brothers and urged us to warn our brothers about laziness. I'm not sure the verse applies how you want to apply it.

The problem is, if you lose a job (for whatever reason) and go without healthcare for a significant portion of time even if you get another job you won't get coverage for pre-existing conditions. I know people who have this problem right now.

re: the heart transplant example, how do you know how that's going to work? It's not how it works now. Although in order to recieve a transplant now you do have to be a good risk healthwise. Seems like a red herring.

How is the church currently helping in health care? My church doesn't provide health care. Sometimes it helps with doctor bills, but that's not enough. How will it take anything away? People will still need help.

So we need to help poor people, but not if you're poor because you're lazy? There are no good jobs for people to get. The jobs that are out there don't provide health benefits generally.

You mentioned one biblical principle really.
